Formed in the spring of 2005 from a longtime vision of two high school classmates and friends, Random Turmoil is a Detroit rock band paving a musical path all it’s own.  Joe Szabelski (vocals, guitar), Ryan McArthur (bass) and Ryan Guimond (drums) have embraced their roots of thrash and grunge to form a uniquely heavy yet melodic, riff driven sound.

Vocally, Szabelski capitalizes on pent up rage and takes listeners through a roller coaster of emotions to deliver a range as smooth and broad as Chris Cornell, to the snarls of Dave Mustaine.

McArthur, initially the lead guitarist, moved to bass in late 2007 to fill a noticeable void in the sound.  Even on a new instrument his aggressive style is still evident.  Together Szabelski and McArthur combine to blanket the songs with heavy, chunky rhythms; a staple of the Random Turmoil sound.

Ryan Guimond arrived on board in the summer of ’05 and adds a thick wall of quick, yet aggressively pulsating drum beats.  With a background of jazz and a laundry list of multi-faceted influences from many musical genres, Guimond has a sound all his own that adds flavor to all of Random Turmoil’s songs.

Lyrically cynical, satirical, witty, at times politically charged and always emotional; Random Turmoil’s thought provoking words add to their style.  It is the name Random Turmoil that represents what life is all about in this world, and it sums up the music perfectly: angry, melancholy, sarcastic, tumultuous - with Random Turmoil.
